Having completed five days of pushing our territorial boundaries, it was time to reel things in for a more relaxed day closer to home. After all, today marked the Chinese festival of
冬至 - a day for food and family reunions (quite similar to Thanksgiving) - so we acted accordingly...
We wanted to make sure Christin and Jared had another dim sum experience before leaving, so we whisked ourselves down to Sheung Wan and picked a restaurant (nearly at random)...
A rather unassuming exterior... ...with an overtly wedding-themed interior (which isn't atypical for these kinds of restaurants) Curried squid Sweet dumplings filled with custard and lotus seed paste Custard buns Glutenous rice balls filled with black sesame paste and rolled in ground peanutsFollowing brunch, we returned home for a rest and decided it would be nice to go see
New Moon (Katherine and I both enjoyed
Twilight)...
A cute/funny/crazy party store ad we saw along the way Right outside the theater (in Pacific Place), an unexpected lyrical ballet performance gripped us House 1, perhaps the best screening room at Pacific Place It was pretty empty on a Tuesday afternoon, but that suited us just fineFollowing the film (which I found to be quite good), we visited the home of Katherine's parents for a holiday dinner...
Even Bear Bear, disguised as a giant bee, joined the family photo Spring rolls Corn egg-drop soup Glutenous rice balls stuffed with coconut sugar and rolled in fresh coconut

3) Aww! Bear Bear! I miss Bear Bear. And what a nice photo of Katherine's family. How cool that you got to be with both of your families on such a special day :)
4) Katherine's mom's food is making me hungry again. So glad Christin and Jared got to sample her amazing cooking!!!
