A month in pictures!

Can it really be that I haven't posted for exactly a month?! Goodness! Definitely a clear indicator of how busy March has been for us.

Even though I've been blog AWOL, I've still been collecting photos, so today I'm going to just lay them all on you. (Almost a picture for each day of absence.) Buckle up!

Hosting a few of our Hall residents and one of our alumni, Ir Chow Che King. He was the Hong Kong Director of Territory Development until retirement and is the civil engineer responsible for designing an unbelievable amount of Hong Kong's infrastructure (like the Tsing Ma Bridge). I was totally starstruck.

Hanging out with some residents before the Inter-Hall Choir Competition.

Our Choir performs!

Celebrating a job well done (or a song well sung?) at a nearby Japanese restaurant.

Being assaulted by the bloom beasts of the 2009 Hong Kong Flower Show

Katherine's mother getting whacked in the head by a giant flower-made goose.

After the Flower Show, it was time for some vegetarian Shanghainese dim sum.
First up: pumkin rice roll!

Pumpkin soy milk!

An array of dim sum dishes that are commonly meat and seafood filled, but not at this place!

Teaching a class at the University of Hong Kong (part of Katherine's Language and Identity in Hong Kong course)! I covered Google Sites authoring, desktop video capture and editing, and Creative Commons licensing)

What?! Berry-sized Kiwi that you don't need to peel before eating?!

Brilliant! And delicious! And from New Zealand!

Katherine and her mother scanning the very creative menu at North Point's famous "East Treasure" restaurant (as seen on Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations). This has now easily become one of my favorite spots here.

Tanks full of mantis shrimp right beside our table...

...and two that were hand-picked and steamed for us!

A delicious soup of the day.

"Black pepper grouper" served with small pieces of toast and completely covered in fried garlic.

"Doggie Duck" (Don't ask - I have no idea - but it defintely was duck, not dog.)

Cuttlefish ball noodles in cuttlefish ink!

When you eat something so pitch black, your teeth, tongue, and lips are completely stained, - which, as you can see, gives you quite an evil look. (This dish was absolutely fantastic, though, so easily worth it!)

The tell-tale lip stains of one touched by the cuttlefish ink (or maybe the juice of sapho?).

Sweet potato ginger dessert soup. The perfect end to an amazing meal.

A closing for all those Cookie Monster fans out there (you know who you are!)

Me LOVE T-shirt! Me hope you bought one. Also, me want cheese sandwich.

Thoughts:

1) I hope you totally made Ir Chow Che King autograph your bridge.

2) That flower show picture is great of Katherine!

3) Want vegetarian Shanghainese dim sum.

4) I just recently heard about kiwiberry! They look NEAT.

5) Tony Bourdain! Whoooo!

6) Black pepper grouper sounds *awesome*. And cuttlefish ball noodles are a must-try!
